Fading Away
Do we fade away every time we don’t
Telephone our loved ones to let them know
How much we care?
Do we fade away each Christmas that we don’t
Write or visit
Relatives and friends far away?
Do we fade away when we’re too busy
To show our love
To those around us?
Do we fade away and thus die
Before our time –
And no one will even
Know the difference when we’re gone;
And when we do die
Will there be any tears shed for us;
Will anyone care –
Because we were too busy fading away?

The Cardinal
A bird chirped merrily
outside my window
as if he had uncovered the
secret to life
and wanted the
whole world to know.
I flew eagerly to the window
and got a glimpse of
the
bright red cardinal, perched
on the fence,
eagerly waiting,
like a lover,
to share his
dreams and hopes.
I smiled at the cardinal
as we journeyed together
to a faraway place
where my beloved was
we were happy, like children,
where sunshine and laughter embraced my pained heart.
I don’t know how long
I stood there,
listening to his cheerful
chatter, and dreaming,
but I do remember
the smile on my face
as I opened the window
for a better glimpse.
Startled, the cardinal spread his wings and flew away
just like you did,
that tragic summer day,
leaving me alone
to dream my life away.

Possibilities
Lift your hands
Lift your heart
Expel your dreams
To fill the air
Around you
Live your purpose
Even when
Doors are shut
To the world
You are your world
Tomorrow will show
Who were the
Dreamers
And who were the
Drifters
Come join me
Lift your heart
Gaze at the sky
Where there
Are no shut doors.
